Originally from Iowa City, Iowa, I was raised on hard work, determination, the importance of a great family, and the Iowa Hawkeyes.
Having entrepreneurial blood in my veins, at 10 years old, I began to hand out popcorn to football fans as they walked past my house to the Iowa football games. My customer base quickly grew, as I learned how to deliver an exceptional customer experience while establishing a solid connection with my target market. My “free“ popcorn stand started pulling in over $25 a game in tips; way better than any of my lemonade stands in the ’80s.
I moved to Ft. Collins to attend Colorado State University, where I majored in Exercise and Sports Science, with a concentration in Sports Medicine, and a minor in Coaching. Upon graduation from CSU, I married my college sweetheart and the girl of my dreams, and we headed back to Iowa City to finish my graduate work in the University of Iowa College Of Medicine Physical Therapy program. While still in school, I realized our healthcare system was failing my patients, and I began writing my business plan for how to fix it.
After completing my degree at Iowa, we moved back to Colorado and settled in the Denver area. Realizing the lack of deep, meaningful relationships in a broken healthcare system, I started Peak Energy Performance Therapy, a revolutionary private practice in physical therapy. From that moment on, I began giving patients exactly what they wanted; hands-on, one-on-one treatment, with undivided attention.
Early in my career, I was featured in Newsweek and on television as a pioneer of infrared light therapy for pain relief. Within two weeks, I had over 700 phone calls and voicemails from all over the world. After a month, my hyperventilating stopped, but the momentum continued. Since then, I have specialized in the coaching, performance training, and rehabilitation of thousands of youth, collegiate, professional and Olympic athletes for over 20 years.
Being in private practice for two decades, I’ve had the opportunity to conduct well over 50,000 interviews for 30 to 60 minutes at a time. It is truly amazing how much you can learn about relating to people when you have a data set like that.
In addition to being a professional speaker, I still continue to see patients at my office in Lone Tree, Colorado. My wife and I have a daughter in high school and a son in fifth grade. As a family, we love traveling, attending sporting events, and spending time in the mountains; hiking in the summer, and skiing all winter.
